I wouldn’t exactly say we are an earth-friendly family, we don’t recycle, we waste way too much water, I donate a fair amount of pollution with all the time I spend idling in the slowest Starbucks drive-thru on the planet, and the lights in our house are always on. So when I decided one day to buy reusable grocery bags my husband thought I had lost it. Here’s the thing, I really really like the handled paper bags at Ralph’s, but I really really like the Chocolate Chewie cookies at Vons (and another Starbucks – bonus). Vons, unfortunately, has really crappy paper bags. I hate plastic because when I put them in the trunk of my Jetta Wagon (assuming it’s not full of strollers) the canned goods and veggies all roll out of the bags and all around my trunk. I hate re-bagging my groceries in the garage, and even more than that I hate it when they put exactly 3 items in each bag. So I thought an easy solution would be to buy some cute reusable grocery bags online. I see people with them all the time, so I thought how hard could they be find? Hard. Maybe I am just picky. So I spent hours, litterally HOURS online one day trying to find some cute, reusable grocery bags. I figured I would share the fruits of my labor – a whole TWO measly websites. It took me forever to find these, by all means if you have others feel free to post in the comments!
Skeeda – I bought these for my car, in Peony and Eggshell. Super cute, wash really well, and hold a ton of groceries. I have managed to buy over $100 in groceries (with lots of sales and coupons) and fit everything in 4 bags. These bags are AWESOME! They hold so much, I have to tell the baggers at the store to pack them fuller because they try the 3 item thing and run out of bags immediately, then look at me like now what?

Minusbags – I bought these for my husband’s car because he was sooo not going for the pretty pink ones I bought myself. I got him the peas and the apples, and I ordered them with extra long handles. These are also cute, wear really well and are a little smaller than the Skeedas, but still fare much better than paper or plastic. Their new spring colors are super cute, too.

None of these bags are cheap, about $12-16 each bag. Minusbags gave me one free when I bought 3, and Skeeda had an Earth Day sale when I got mine, so I saved a couple of dollars per bag. But these are so worth it. I can carry in a whole round of groceries in one trip with a couple bags over my shoulder and one in each hand. They really do hold a ton more than the store bags, this is one online item that totally lives up to it’s online hype! I cannot tell you how many people stop me in the parking lot and ask me where I bought them, I seriously could sell them out of my trunk!
So, moral of the story, if you keep an open mind to new things, you may just find something that totally works for you in a way you never expected!
